DIA Blog 014 - 5 Reasons You Will Fall In Love With Osaka by H8R

by H8R

Japan has a lot of great cities. It's not a huge country, but each city has it's own vibe and attractions to check out making it a GREAT place to travel.

Out of all of them, Osaka is easily one of my favorites. It's a lively town that's rich in food culture and loves to party.

Here are 5 reasons you will fall in love with Osaka!
Check out our episode on traveling to Osaka!

Getting there's a breeze

Osaka is centrally located in the Kansai Region of Japan. It's on the Tokaido Shinkansen line and is also served by the Kintetsu Railways. It has two airports (KIX and ITM). A number of buses connect Osaka to cities all over Japan.

Whether you're flying in to start your trip or Osaka is one of your stops on your Japanese journey, you're sure to have a good time!

There are a lot of options for lodging

There are a bunch of options when it comes to places to stay in Osaka. Whether you're traveling with a large family, having a bro's trip, or rolling solo, you can find a variety of hotels and hostels with different price points.

If you're rolling solo, a capsule hotel or a business hotel should be enough for you.

If you're in a big group, look for a large Airbnb with separate rooms. It's great for socializing and saving some money at home.

For those who are looking for a high-rolling time, stay in one of the luxury hotels around the city. You'll pay more but you'll have a good time!

The food is FANTASTIC

Osaka is known for food and the food does not disappoint! You can check out the local favorites like takoyaki and okonomiyaki.

On this trip, we decided to go to Lawry's The Prime Rib in Umeda. It's one of only three stores in Japan. I went for the Osaka Cut (the smallest size) prime rib with the premium course. Good times!

You can take a lot of day trips

Osaka's location makes it pretty easy to get to other parts of Japan. You can take the train to Nara to feed the deer and see ancient pagodas and temples. We decided to stop by Todaiji to see the Daibutsu (aka Big Buddha). There can be a lot of tourists depending on the season but it's definitely worth checking out!

Other places you can easily visit from Osaka include Kyoto, Kobe, Yoshino, and Ise.

There is a TON of stuff to do

Whatever you're into, Osaka probably has a place to do it. Personally, I just like to roll around Dohtonbori and have a good time eating food and hanging with the locals.

If you're a fan of anime and manga, be sure to check out Denden Town south of Dohtonbori.

Other tourists enjoy visiting Universal Studios Japan (buy the fast passes if you actually wanna go on rides), the famous Kaiyukan AquariumAbeno Harukas building (Japan's tallest), the ROR Comedy Club and many other attractions!

That's it!

That's all for this post. I hope you enjoyed learning more about Osaka. What are you excited about? Do you have any other places you'd recommend? Let me know!
