DIA Blog 015 - What You're Missing Out On At Lawry's The Prime Rib by H8R

Image
by H8R After becoming famous in Beverly Hills in the 1930s, Lawry's The Prime Rib has become synonymous with excellent food and impeccable service. The location I visited in the Umeda area of Osaka is one of the three restaurants in Japan. It's got a fancy feel that hearkens back to the old days of stiff cocktails and simple, yet delicious, food. If you like prime rib, then this is the place for you! The cost is higher than you might pay at your average steak joint, but the quality does not disappoint. My philosophy is to live every day pretty cheaply so you can ball hard when you feel like it! I highly recommend one of the cuts of prime rib over other steak options (I mean prime rib is in the name, right?). The more expensive cuts are usually bigger. You can get the prime rib by itself, or blow a few extra bucks to get the course. The course includes appetizers, soup, salad, and dessert. There are also a wide variety of cocktails, wines, and other beverages...

DIA Blog 013 - The Beautiful and Ugly Side of Tet in Vietnam by Noogie

Image
by Noogie Tet (Vietnam's Lunar New Year) came and went by in a blink of an eye. Tet is a holiday that celebrates starting a new year, which essentially means starting anew. DIA Blog 011 - Why Ballin' On A Budget Is Easy In Vietnam By Noogie

Image
by Noogie Playing off of Hayter's previous blog about Why Ballin' On A Budget In Japan Isn't As Hard As You Think It Is , I decided to let you know just how easy it is to ball on a budget in Vietnam. Vietnam is by far one of Asia's cheapest destinations but that doesn't mean it lacks in quality when it comes to food and living Having lived in Vietnam for over 5 years now I thought it would be a good time to share exactly why Vietnam is the place to be if you wanna ball on a budget.   Cheap, Delicious Local Cuisine Vietnam simply has one of the world's most amazing cuisines. Vietnamese cuisine is all about finding harmony between the 5 taste elements - sweet, salty, spicy, sour, and bitter. With that in mind, the dishes you consume are a flavor-blast that hits your senses like no tomorrow. The best part about it all is most local dishes, such as banh mi, pho, or rice dishes, range from $.40 to $3.00 If you eat like a ...

DIA Blog 010 - Why Ballin' On A Budget In Japan Isn't As Hard As You Think It Is by H8R

Image
by H8R Expat life can be really expensive or cheap depending on your location. Out of many popular destinations, Japan is easily one of the MOST expensive in Asia. However, it doesn't have to be that way. If you're on a quest to save money while living large in Japan, then you're reading the right article. While I do lovingly categorize myself as a "cheapskate," I'm cheap in the way that I want to try to get the best deals and the best value for my time/money. In other words, I'm not opposed to spending money, but I will do a little bit more work to stretch that dollar (or yen in this case). This post will give you the inside info so you can live that baller's lifestyle without going broke! Be sure to check out our episode about saving money as an expat! Look for deals and specials Lot's of shops, restaurants, and bars have special promotions all the time. Going to these places at certain times in the day, days in the w...
